01
Who we are
We publish independent articles, comparisons, and guides for pet parents. We may earn affiliate commissions when readers purchase products or services through some of our links — we'll always disclose those relationships clearly. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
For any privacy-related questions, you can reach us at privacy@comparepetcoverage.com.
02
What we collect
Information collected automatically
When you visit our site, our analytics provider (Jetpack, by Automattic) automatically collects basic information about your visit, including:
- Your IP address (used to estimate your country/region — not stored long-term in identifiable form)
- Browser type and version, operating system, device type
- The pages you view on our site, the order you view them in, and how long you spend
- The website or search engine that referred you to us
- The date and time of your visit
This is the same kind of basic visitor data that nearly every website collects. We use it to understand which articles are useful, fix technical issues, and improve the site over time.
Information you provide
If you contact us by email, we'll receive whatever information you choose to share — typically your name, email address, and the content of your message. We use that information to reply to you and, where helpful, keep a record of the conversation.
We may add forms (such as a contact form or newsletter signup) in the future. When we do, we'll update this policy to describe what those forms collect and how that information is used.
Information from cookies
See Section 5 below for details on cookies and similar tracking technologies.
03
How we use what we collect
We use the information described above to:
- Operate and improve the site — understand which content readers find useful, identify broken pages, and prioritize what to write next
- Respond to your messages — reply to questions, feedback, or support requests you send us
- Protect the site — detect and prevent spam, abuse, fraud, and security incidents
- Comply with legal obligations — respond to lawful requests from authorities and enforce our terms
We do not use your information to build advertising profiles, sell data to third parties, or train AI models.
04
Who we share it with
We share information with a small number of service providers who help us operate the site. These providers are bound by their own privacy policies and may only use information for the purposes we specify.
Our service providers
Legal disclosures
We may disclose information if we're required to do so by law, subpoena, or court order, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
Business transfers
If we sell, merge, or transfer the site, your information may be transferred to the new owner. If that happens, we'll update this policy and notify you where required.
We do not sell your personal information to anyone, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
05
Cookies and similar technologies
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser. We use cookies for two purposes:
- Essential cookies — required for the site to function (for example, remembering whether you've dismissed a notice). These can't be turned off without breaking parts of the site.
- Analytics cookies — set by Jetpack to count unique visitors and understand which pages are read. These help us improve the site but aren't required for it to work.
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in your settings. Blocking analytics cookies will not prevent you from using the site.
We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or cross-site tracking.
06
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have legal rights over the personal information we hold about you. These rights generally include:
- Access — ask us what information we hold about you
- Correction — ask us to fix information that's wrong
- Deletion — ask us to delete information we hold about you
- Objection or restriction — ask us to stop or limit certain uses of your information
- Portability — ask us to provide your information in a portable format
- Opt out of "sales" or "sharing" — under California law, you can opt out of any sale or sharing of your personal information. (We don't sell or share information for advertising purposes, but you have the right regardless.)
- Withdraw consent — where we rely on consent (such as for non-essential cookies), you can withdraw it at any time
To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@comparepetcoverage.com. We'll respond within the timeframe required by applicable law (typically 30–45 days). We won't discriminate against you for exercising any privacy right.
If you're in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
07
How long we keep your data
We keep information only as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected:
- Visitor analytics — aggregated and retained by Jetpack per Automattic's data retention practices. Individual visitor logs are typically retained for a limited period and then aggregated.
- Email correspondence — we keep emails you send us for as long as needed to respond and maintain a reasonable record of the conversation. You can ask us to delete this at any time.
When we no longer need information, we delete it or anonymize it.
08
Children's privacy
This site is intended for adult pet parents. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom).
If you believe we may have inadvertently collected information from a child, please email privacy@comparepetcoverage.com and we'll delete it promptly.
09
International visitors
Compare Pet Coverage is operated from the United States. If you visit us from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S., where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.
By using the site, you understand that your information will be processed in the U.S. We rely on appropriate safeguards (including the standard data protection terms used by our service providers) to protect information transferred internationally.

Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time — for example, if we add new features, change service providers, or need to reflect legal developments. When we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we may also note them on the homepage or notify you by email if we have your address.
Your continued use of the site after any update means you accept the revised policy.
