Compare Pet Coverage exists because we got tired of every "best dog harness" article being a copy-paste of the same five products. So we built something different.
Why we built this.
We started Compare Pet Coverage because we couldn't find pet content we trusted.
Every search for "best dog food" returned the same listicles, written from the same SEO playbook, recommending the same brands — usually whoever paid the highest commission. Every comparison article was a thinly-disguised affiliate dump. Every "honest review" felt like a press release with extra steps.
Meanwhile, pet ownership keeps getting more complicated. Fresh food subscriptions, prescription refills online, GPS trackers, vet telehealth, breed-specific gear, supplements with claims that range from solid to suspicious — there's more to evaluate than ever, and the existing pet content treats it all like an afterthought.
So we built the kind of site we actually wanted to read. Honest comparisons. Clear methodology. Plain English. And the freedom to say "this brand isn't worth it" without losing sleep over the lost commission.
We're small. We're not trying to be the biggest pet site on the internet. We're trying to be the most useful one for the people who find us.
What we actually care about.
Four principles that show up in every guide we publish.
Pets first.
Recommendations are based on what's actually best for your pet — not what pays best for us. If a brand we love doesn't have an affiliate program, we still link to it.
Plain English.
No jargon, no filler, no 47-paragraph intros before the answer. We get to the point because you have a pet to feed and a label to read.
Show our work.
Every review explains how we got there. You can disagree with our reasoning if you want. We'd rather you understand the trade-offs than just trust us.
Update or admit.
When facts change, we update the article. When we're wrong, we say so. When something we recommended goes downhill, we de-recommend it.
How this site stays free for you.
Compare Pet Coverage is supported by affiliate commissions. When you click through to a brand and buy something, we may earn a small percentage of the sale — at no extra cost to you. The brand pays us. You don't.
This affects which products exist on the site, but not which ones we recommend. We compare the same products we'd compare even if there were no commissions involved. When we like something that doesn't have an affiliate program, we say so and link to it anyway. When something with a great commission rate isn't worth your money, we tell you.
What we never do: accept payment for placement, write sponsored reviews, hide negative findings to protect a relationship, or rank brands by commission rate. If we mention it, we like it. Not the other way around.
